Production Manager (Corporate Conferences, Meetings & Events)
Production Managers assume technical and budget oversight for medium to large complex programs assigned. They do so from concept to implementation and postproduction and will assist on other programs as needed. Production Managers will manage internal tasks/projects related primarily to technical, production, creative, content, and event services, as assigned by Senior Leadership team members. The goal is always to provide exceptional service and to ensure customer satisfaction. A Production Manager can accomplish this goal by implementing the metroConnections Brand Pillars in everyday work functions with internal colleagues and external clients and partners: Connection, Innovation, Adaptability, Partnership, Dependability, Execution.
This is a full-time, salary, bonus-eligible, hybrid position. Work locations will include independent remote/work from home, occasional team office work in Burnsville, MN, and on-site event work (within the Twin Cities, domestically, and internationally, including overnight travel).
Position responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Work collaboratively with all service teams within metroConnections.
- Participate in all aspects of metroConnections where appropriate/when assigned.
- Support Technical Operations team members with ongoing and forward-looking production challenges, as directed by Senior Leadership.
- Oversight of Technical Directors, Technical Specialists, and/or Production Assistants if assigned to the project; ensuring that responsibilities are completed in a timely, professional manner.
- Support Production Services team members with requirements and requests of speakers and clients.
- Serve as primary Technical Director on site for productions when scheduling/availability requires it.
- Proposal creation, coordination, and management in conjunction with Sales team, Senior Leadership team, and Sourcing Specialist to create production proposals, including but not limited to the following:
- Provide direction and informed suggestions to sales based on budget considerations, i.e. out-of-scope options.
- Create initial 2D drawings to establish design parameters.
- Create 3D plots and venues for the Creative Services team to assist in 3D rendering, when applicable.
- Work with the Creative Services Team to create drawings for creative scenic and event concepts as designed by internal or external Creative Teams.
- Create and/or coordinate in-scope RFPs and delivery of those RFPs to Sourcing Specialist.
- Support the Sourcing Specialist and Program Budget Lead to deliver a complete financial document for Sales, including vendor, venue, scenic, labor, logistics, and internal costs.
- Pre-planning and coordinator in conjunction with program operations team members, including but not limited to the following:
- Participate in site visits required for effective program planning.
- Revise financials and layouts as directed by Program Leads or Sales.
- Work with the Shop and Warehouse teams to build, test, and ship any custom scenic elements.
- Coordinate and manage vendors.
- Staff, crew, and manage specialists and hired local labor for optimal onsite execution of production and event elements.
- Coordinate with Program Leads regarding on site technical scheduling and logistics including, but not limited to, loading dock, venue, labor, security, and crew meal timing and counts.
- Secure and coordinate with external resources for programs through external vendors and internal logistics resources.
- Secure internal resources through inventory management system, Flex, following established processes.
- On Site Production Lead for setup of General Sessions, Breakouts, Expos, Events, and all program related elements that include technical elements, including but not limited to the following:
- Oversee Technical Directors and Technical Operations team members to ensure execution of truck unload and reload and scenic build.
- Manage vendors and hired labor for setups and teardowns.
- Coordinate and advise on site security and safety plans related to Production elements.
- Ensure venue and local labor rules and policies are adhered to by internal team members and external partners.
- Support the Post-Program Follow-Up Phase of assigned projects:
- Reconcile post-show budget and financials.
- Audit, approve, and submit vendor invoices for payment through the Production Services team.
- Finalize financial details with Program Leads re: accounts receivable, accounts payable, etc.
Minimum Qualifications include:
- 5+ Years experience and familiarity with AV equipment and operation. Including but not limited to: Audio, Lighting, Projection, LED, Rigging, and Streaming
- Prior work with an Audio-Visual provider, production company or agency.
- Proficient technical operations skill level.
- Proficiency in: Vectorworks, Adobe CC, Windows and Mac OS.
- Proven adaptability and leadership skills managing a large team in a high stress environment.
- Ability to react and troubleshoot quickly while minimizing impact to budget and keeping client satisfaction at the forefront.
- Ability to understand project scopes from a high level and detailed lens.
- Self-sufficient; effectively manages workload and delegates.
- Positive mentor.
- Excel in written and verbal communication (English is the primary language).
- Exhibit strong computer skills, proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
- Work independently to come up with viable solutions.

- Take direction from multiple managers or team members, as well as having a good. understanding of with whom to advise/consult in the event of conflicting instruction.

- Understand the meanings of words and effectively respond, analyze information, and write reports, and comprehend complex issues and communicate effectively to diverse groups.

Requirements:
- Overnight travel for site visits and executing programs, which may include nights and weekends up to 30%
