Sales Manager

Our Sales & Marketing Team is seeking a candidate for the position of Sales Manager.  The Sales Manager will be responsible for business development and harnessing a relationship-based approach to generate new business.  The ideal candidate will sell all of metroConnections’ core services, including (but not limited to) meeting management, registration, production and virtual meetings, conferences and events.  This position reports to the Vice President of Sales from our Minneapolis, MN office.

Ideal candidates will be able to cultivate leads in the meeting and events industry, close new business and understand the latest and greatest meeting and events technologies, best practices and trends. Candidates must display a strong sales background with a track record of success.

Sales Manager responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Prospecting and networking to find new sales opportunities
  • Creating and developing unique and successful proposals
  • Giving sales presentations to prospective clients and existing partners
  • Managing client expectations and challenges
  • Working within the Sales and Marketing Team to provide creative solutions within client budgets
  • Leading the sale through hand-off to our operations team members

Sales Manager competencies:

  • Experience in the conferences, meeting, events, production or hospitality industries
  • Understand the audio visual and lighting world
  • Working with keynote speakers, entertainment and/or talent
  • Proven sales record
  • Have the drive and skill set to find new business and/or bring business to the company
  • Strong computer skills; proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Multi-task while maintaining big-picture thinking, timelines are very important in this role
  • Leadership attitude
  • Motivated to succeed
  • Creative and confident personality combined with the ability to learn quickly

Sales Manager qualifications:

  • Production, audio visual and lighting background
  • Experience in Certain registration, Cvent, Doubledutch, Splash or other registration technologies
  • Experience tracking business in a CRM, Microsoft Dynamics 365
  • Strong project management background

This is a full-time benefit eligible position.  This position will require travel in the local metro area (meetings, working on-site, etc.).  The candidate must have access to personal, reliable transportation.  When out-of-state travel resumes, the candidate must have experience travelling domestically and must be willing and able to travel for multiple days or weeks at a time.  Up to 20% overnight travel (site inspections, client visits, and on-site program operations).
