A Big Win: MN Sports Awards
A Big Win for First-Ever Minnesota Sports Awards
A sold-out crowd packed the newly renovated Target Center to celebrate the best moments in Minnesota sports at the first annual Minnesota Sports Awards.
Fox Sports North’s Anthony LaPanta and former Vikings great Ahmad Rashad announced the winners—determined by public voting—in categories ranging from Sports Moment of the Year to Collegiate Athlete of the Year. The audience included high school, collegiate and professional athletes; coaches; team owners, executives and employees; media members; and, of course, fans.
And, metroConnections was in the middle of it all.
With the televised awards ceremony happening in our hometown, metro’s creative team knew the stage needed to be phenomenal. Working in partnership with Meet Minneapolis and Sports Minneapolis, our planning process included branding, furniture and possible stage designs. To help communicate our vision, we created a full fly-through video—a technical video rendering—that showcased our idea in virtual reality while Target Center was undergoing renovations. With our creative design and plans approved, it was “go time!”
For a smooth event flow, metro personnel stayed in contact via radio headsets to expertly time the ushering of award winners onstage, facilitate interviews on the side stage, and keep Sports Minneapolis staff “in-the-know.”
The result was a tremendous success. Meet Minneapolis and Sports Minneapolis are excited for the second annual event. And, so are we.
