Revolutionary Destination: Incentive Trip
metro’s service results in a successful urban experience
Warm climate. Sandy beaches. Scenic golf courses. Put these all together and you have a highly desirable location for a company incentive trip. metroConnections has planned and implemented dozens of warm-weather getaways over the past 35 years.
However, when a client wants to host their incentive trip in an urban epicenter, it requires a fresh approach to marketing and planning – a creative way to maximize the incentive. This type of challenge brings out the best in metroConnections’ passion for exceptional client service.
Patterson Dental strayed from the typical beach experience for its 2018 Sales Summit by hosting it in Boston, one of America’s oldest and most historic cities. metroConnections worked closely with Patterson executives to plan a trip that enticed the sales team to battle for a spot at what would prove to be an enriching, truly Americana experience.
We did this through creative tactics like:
- A monthly email marketing campaign highlighting Boston’s rich history and the unique experiences attendees could have there
- Planning unique offsite activities like guided tours of the North End and the Freedom Trail, behind-the-scenes looks at Fenway Park, and trolley rides through the heart of the city
- Nightly room drops to attendees’ hotel rooms to provide fun “did you know?” facts and images about Boston’s storied past
Evening events brought home the quintessential New England sights, sounds, tastes and feel of the area through décor representing the neighborhoods and harbor, a clam bake and the final night ending with a regal celebratory event at the JFK Museum.
The result was a brand new urban experience for Patterson sales team members, many of whom have won the incentive trip multiple times before. Straying away from the classic resort trip went over so well that Patterson is looking to incorporate urban settings into their incentive trips every other year.
“Without the attraction of a tropical destination, getting attendees excited for an incentive trip can be a bit daunting. After all, these top employees want to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life so they can relax. The metro team found unique, out-of-the-box solutions that were so engaging and inspiring – we are all looking forward to the next urban adventure!” –Josh Killian, VP, Marketing – Patterson Dental
